RNCM Pathfinder Nominations: 2021/22 – Supporting Aspiring Young Musicians
RNCM Pathfinder supports young musicians who are full of potential and love nothing more than playing music but who face barriers to access more opportunities to develop their skills, meet new musical friends and attend concerts. Pathfinders enjoy an array of workshops throughout the year based on our three pillars: composition, improvisation and chamber music as well as other creative sessions to help increase their confidence and musicianship skills. Alongside the core participatory activity, we also offer bespoke pathways including personalised mentorship from RNCM students, tutors and professional musicians. Pathfinder is a fully funded programme and at no cost to participants. RNCM Pathfinder runs approximately one event a month. We know it might not be possible to commit to the full calendar of events, so all we ask is that you commit to what you can do, give it your best effort, and support your fellow musicians.
To quote some of our Pathfinders;
Thank you for doing the Pathfinder session on Audition and Exam preparation. It really boosted my confidence and my teacher said that I will be getting full marks on my GCSE performance. I owe it to Pathfinder, because I was certainly not confident enough to perform until I did the session. Once again, thank you for supporting me with my music.
I kind of struggled at first but playing side-by-side with the tutor during the Pathfinder Chamber Music weekend helped me to adjust and it elevated my playing as I tried to copy what the tutor was doing.
