Manchester Cathedral Children’s Choir

I love being in the children’s choir, the songs are fun and we all get on very well.
Matty, chorister.

Welcome to the page of Manchester Cathedral Children’s Choir!

In the Choir, children learn and have fun through singing and musicianship games. The children sing a wide variety of songs and play music games to encourage social interaction, physical co-ordination and self-confidence. They learn to pitch simple melodies in their heads, and grasp basic pulse and rhythm. We aim to have one concert per term to show family and friends what we have been learning. Covering a variety of repertoire from classical to musical theatre, there is always something to keep you entertained.

There have been numerous studies over the last few years celebrating the fact that leaning to sing in a choir can help children in many ways. There are five main areas of reported benefits from singing. These include, physical, psychological, social, musical and educational (and they often overlap!). For more details from “SingUp” which is a Government invested national singing programme, click here.
