Children at this age enjoy singing, moving and exploring sounds at home and in different settings. Family events and workshops are offered by many hub partners including Polkadots and Shake Rattle and Roll. MyHub also run an annual Early Years Music Celebration at the RNCM.

Schools have the opportunity to join in with large scale musical events promoted by the hub such as Singarounds and events run by hub partners such as the Halle education team. They can also attend Polkadots (fun music sessions) or learn an instrument at music centres or at the RNCM.
Children at this age continue to access classroom music and singing at school and have the opportunity to learn an instrument – all schools offer a free first access to instrumental playing. Schools have the opportunity to join in with large scale musical events promoted by the hub such as Singarounds, Manchester Irish Music Project, Black History Month Celebration, Showcase , the Big Sing and events run by hub partners such as the Halle education team – Come and Play with the Halle and Halle for Youth concerts. Children can also learn or play an instrument at music centres or the RNCM. The Halle and RNCM also offer programmes for children. There are ensembles and progression routes for all instruments.
Young people at high schools continue to have music curriculum lessons in key stage 3 and most schools offer examination pathways such as GCSE / BTEC / NCFE / Arts Awards. High schools also run choirs and ensembles in several genres including rock, jazz and electronic music. Some high schools and music centres organise residentials and musical tours in the UK and in Europe. Many hub partners offer exciting opportunities for young musicians including inclusive holiday projects and residencies.
Young people in Manchester can access a range of further education music courses. Sixth form colleges and some schools offer music and music technology qualifications. Other organisations also offer a range of courses including music performance, production and management.
