First Notes is an exciting new project that aims to develop young people’s musical skills by working alongside professional musicians to write and perform new songs.
In January and February 2019, up to x schools will take part in a workshop with Manchester Camerata musicians to write part of a song based on the topic of ‘environmental change’. These songs will be arranged by a composer into one large piece to be performed in a professional Manchester venue in spring 2019.
The aim of the project is to develop young people’s musical skills, immerse them in an important curriculum topic, and create a create a professional piece of music which they have full ownership of. We hope to encourage more young people to engage in the process of creating their own pieces of music due to the wealth of known benefits to their personal and social skills, and increased learning across the curriculum. If your school is interested in taking part in this project please contact Nancy Eves at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0161 226 8696. Nancy will then send you more details, including a schedule of workshop dates to choose from.
