DOORWAYS TO MUSIC

Live Music Now is pleased to launch our ‘Doorways to Music’ project for SEND schools in Manchester. Thanks to the support of The Zochonis Charitable Trust and MyHub we are able to offer special schools in the region the opportunity to enhance their music provision by attending subsidised concerts at The Bridgewater Hall or hosting performances in school.

The project involves our specially trained professional musicians delivering an interactive concert. Each music session lasts for up to 1 hour during which the children and young people are encouraged to engage with the music in a variety of ways and on their terms e.g. singing, movement, playing instruments. The sessions are based on participation, active involvement and flexibility.

“Many of our pupils would rarely be able to access live music outside of school due to the nature of music venues and expectations of behaviour. Being exposed to live music, particularly genres they would not normally see, is such an important part of their music education. The chance to engage with live musicians in a musical performance and feel the physical nature of music is indispensable as an experience” – School Teacher.
