The AYM Furthering Talent programme is launching in Manchester this September.
Furthering Talent is designed to help musical young people from low income families to have music lessons following on from their initial ‘first access’ experience.
Up to 60 Manchester children will benefit from the funding which provides weekly instrumental lessons with a specialist teacher, an individualised learning plan, access to One Education’s Music Centre ensembles and a personal bursary to spend on anything connected to their learning. Each term all of the children are invited to attend a musical ‘Get-Together’ along with their families.
Local co-ordinator of the project Kate Moran is excited to be working with primary schools in the Rusholme and Moss Side area of the city, and with schools near One Education’s vibrant Music Centre based at the Co-Op Academy in Blackley, North Manchester.
